How can I improve my English?

You can join a small social group for no charge through ISSS (the Office of International Students and Scholar Services). You can contact ISSS at (217) 333-1303 to inquire about joining a group. You may view the English Language Resources page.

The Cosmopolitan Club on campus is open to all students to cultivate social and intellectual relationships among persons of different nations through a variety of activities and services. For information, contact the Cosmopolitan Club Coordinator at (217) 333-9051 (office); (217) 367-3079 (home) or check the bulletin board in the program office for their activities.

The University YMCA is an organization committed to serving University faculty/staff/students as well as the Champaign-Urbana community through programs such as: Communiversity classes, Friday Forum lunch seminars, Know Your University lunch seminars, and volunteer programs. For more information, call (217) 337-1500.

The International Hospitality Committee has an English Conversation Class. These are informal groups of international men and women who meet weekly to gain practical experience speaking English. Non-students may join these classes and regular attendance is encouraged. Classes form towards the end of August and begin in early September. These classes are free and may be joined at any time; call (217) 333-1303 for more information.
